11 months~

This past month has been a little difficult. The best way I feel to describe this sweet little girl is "very determined." Something that can be excellent at times when raising a little one and then there are all those other times when, well...it's a battle of the will. Those battles are never fun, especially when you are dealing with an 11 month old. I remember the first time I sat and read a parenting book when Caitlyn was about this age. Everything in the book said a child at this age "would not understand discipline." I remember thinking how well Caitlyn understood and was dumbfounded at what the book was teaching to do at this age and that was basically to ignore bad behavior and re-direct. Well, with those sweet but strong personalities it is very complicated in almost every case to ignore, or re-direct for that matter. They see what they want, they know what they want...and well they will scream or do whatever it takes to get it! Needless to say there has been a lot of screaming these days. Some I believe due to the fact that there is a new tooth coming through. However, I also believe that this sweet little girl is learning how to verbally communicate her desires and her will. Yes, always very fun. It makes for very few dull moments around here. Today has proven to have been a little easier and I believe it is because of the fact that her father and I have been working on nice little phrases such as, "No, Dakota, do not scream." Or, "That's enough." "Your OK." "Not for Dakota."

It is hard to believe that with a sweet little face like hers there is a fireball inside:)

Even when I go to kiss her on the cheek without just the right timing of desire on her part she will quickly and boldly push me away.

Thankfully she reminds me of another sweet 5-year old girl in our family who I believe is doing very well with the matters presented above. And thankfull she has grown out of that "me..Me...ME!" mindset.

She still has a will but it seems to be aimed in the right direction during the present time.

May His grace continue to abound as we continue to lead her in His truth and to walk in His ways. A fireball can turn out to be a nice light in this dark world.
That is my prayer for her anyways;)

I loved reading your description of her! I felt like I got to know little Dakota much better. Evan who has been our "little mellow-man" has just now started to voice his dislike of some things around here (i.e. sister taking toys from him) and it completely catches me off guard. I still think of him (and Dakota for that matter) as a LITTLE baby, not this being able to form and express opinions!

Sweet little Dakota! It is amazing how such sweet adorable little babies can scream so loud and get so mad! Sam has just started a tiny bit of it.
