We have a very special day in our house come September 3rd, and it seems we have spent the whole week celebrating it.
Greg and Caitlyn share their birthday's. The most amazing part of it all was that September 3rd was her due date from the very beginning. I remember looking over at Greg when the doctor announced the date and we both were thinking, :"What are the chances of that happening?" Well, despite the fact that I began labor early on the second of September, Cailtyn held off coming into the world right on schedule and right on Greg's birthday. I remember one of the first things he said to her as he held her close and gently whispered, "you are the best birthday present I could ever ask for."
Yeah, I know I have said it before, but I will say it again and continue to say it for the rest of my life. Greg is the most amazing man that I know. The most amazing human being for that. He is my best friend and has held that title now for over 10 years. We have been through a lot together but there is never anything that I need to hold back from him. He is always a great listener and always very honest with me. I have great respect for him and still consider myself blessed beyond measure that he is even a part of my life.
It's been a busy last few weeks for him as he is changing careers and along with the change has come the extra stress of studying and passing tests, not to mention the load of helping in the start-up of our new school. Just this past week, the day before his birthday he took the Series Seven exam and scored a 92! The average score of those who even PASS the exam is a 73. He shocked himself by doing so well and I could not be more proud of him. We spent the evening out last night and I am always so grateful for those times that we get to spent together.
Over the weekend we went to the lake to celebrate their birthdays with some family and friends and of course Caitlyn had a blast. Yesterday we also spent lunch out to Chuck E Cheese as a family, so I guess you could say that we have had a full week/weekend of birthday activities. Greg is spending this afternoon delivering cupcakes to Caitlyn's class at school which marks the end of her birthday fun.
Caitlyn is such a sweet girl and has an incredibly soft and tender spirit. We have been blessed over the past six years in parenting her and pray for continued wisdom in the years ahead.
Caitlyn is a servant. I have seen that from the beginning of her life. She loves to help out wherever she can, whenever she can.
I can vividly remember picking her up at the nursery when she was about 18 months old and the care-taker being astonished at how well she cared for the other kids in the classroom. Caitlyn was even known at that age to "keep track" of all of the toddler's security blankets and pacifiers and would constantly pick them up and take them back to their owners with a little pat on the back.
As she has grown into more of a young lady she has definitely carried on this caring personality. She sometimes just amazes me at the things she will consider to do for other people.
So, the birthday activities have almost come to an end here in our home, but I am sure I will hear all about Caitlyn's special day at school.
I could not be more thankful for these two people in my life and will continue to be amazed at how much the Lord chooses to bless us.
