These three words come to mind when I think of this little boy.
How special he is to our family. I love his smile and his overall enthusiasm for life. As I reflect on this past year of his life, I am overjoyed. I have seen many heart changes along with the desire to follow and give his heart to Christ. When he first asked Jesus into his heart I was hesitant…wondering if he really understood. I knew at that moment that God knew his heart and it was not up to me to determine his understanding…he understood that he needed Jesus. Without Jesus in his life I do not think that I would have seen as many heart changes that I have over the past year. Micah is determined, strong-willed, desiring to do as he pleases, when he pleases. I have seen subtle changes as he has said on more than one occasion that “he wants to make Jesus happy.” He has also said that he “wished he could give Jesus a hug.” He thinks about Heaven a lot and often asks many questions.
He actually asks questions about many things and his mind is always at work. He loves to take things apart and put them back together and has since he was very small.
He loves his sisters, even though they can annoy him sometimes. I sometimes hear him tell them that he loves them. In fact he often tells me out of the blue that he loves me and Daddy so much. That is a tender heart. He hates seeing people hurt and always loves to help out…or get help from an adult if needed.
I also love to see adventure in his eyes. He loves riding the 4-wheekers, loves running as fast as he can and sliding if need be to beat someone else, and loved camping out in a tent for the first time with Daddy at the ranch. He also loves “hiking” and often says that he is going to “hike” in the yard, although he doesn’t have very far to go.
During the last winter he went through 6 pairs of jeans/pants. I was amazed. I was amazed until I realized that he runs ALL of the time when he is outside and often slides on his knees. He wore them out so well that they once were considered good cut-off shorts for the summertime but quickly became trash, good for nothing! I will have to come up with a new game plan next year.
My prayer for Micah is that he would continue to learn to trust Jesus and obey His Word. I am looking forward to this year with excitement knowing that he will learn so much more and do so many new things.
May the Lord watch over and protect him this year, but most of all may He guard his little heart.
