Saint John Climacus once wrote…
“When you pray do not try to express yourself in fancy words, for often it is the simple repetitious phrases of a little child that our father in heaven finds most irresistible.”
This brought me encouragement today.
I find myself praying often throughout the day but my prayers OFTEN go something like this…
“God help me…”
“Lord, guide me…”
“Lord, give me patience…”
“Give me words to say…”
“Show me how to love…”
“Lord, show me how to DISCIPLINE in love…”
“Give me peace Father…”
“Show me Your Word…”
“Fill me with Your Spirit…”
“Show me how to trust You…”
“Give me strength…”
I am so thankful I have a Heavenly Father who knows my heart (and STILL loves me!)
I would love to spend more time in His Word, more time in prayer, more time in silence before Him. However, with 4 little ones I rarely get as much quiet time as I would like.
An overwhelming feeling of gratitude comes in knowing that my child-like prayers are always heard by my Heavenly Father and He is with me every step of the way along the journey He has planned for me.
I don’t have to be a brilliant scholar or an eloquent writer to have a relationship with the Creator of the universe, the Savior of the World.
I just have to be me.
